In Spring 2004, George Sisting was asked by The Marymount School to
give a religious presentation about hardships and dreams. The primary
purpose of the video was to inspire the students to pursue their dreams.
The secondary purpose of the video was to educate myself on Adobe Premiere
6.5. I wanted to gain an understanding of Adobe Premiere's interface.
I also wanted to compare and contrast it to Final Cut Pro, AVID Video,
and iMovie.
Rather than import RAW video, I chose to build a video with still images,
audio track, and type. By using still images, I am able to examine compression
artifacts more easily.
The video CODECS that I tested were: Cinepak, Sorenson, and MPEG4. In
addition, I experimented with setting the output data rate manually;
rather than rely on a program's default settings. Manually controlling
the data output rate is useful if your video needs to be optimized for
a specific media, such as, CD-ROM, Digital Versatile Disk (DVD), and
the web.
