Mount Hood is located 50 miles (80 kilometers) east from portland in Oregon. The volcano is extinct which means it will never erupt again. The last eruption was in 1845 all the way through 1865! But that doesn’t mean it’s not cool! Mount Hood is 11,234 feet tall! Now that's cool! It is also 3,426 meters above sea level! Now that is really cool! In 1792 William Broughton, a british naval officer became the first European to see mount hood. He named it for Samuel Hood a great british admiral.Three cheers for Mount Hood!!!
