Katmai is a volcano located in south western Alaska. It is 6,715 ft. (
2,047m). Katmai is now extinct. Scientists are not sure of the last time
it erupted. Although in 1912 a volcano near Katmai erupted. For a while
scientists thought it was katmai that erupted but it was actually a nearby
peak by the name of Novarupta. The rock was so hot that it melted Katmai.
All that was left was a crater. The place where Katmai once was is now
a National Park.
